Say My Name!

Lately Ofelia has been a little upset at how so many people are saying her name incorrectly. She has asked me to give a little speech lesson to those of you with "white ear" (her expression, not mine).

Ok, I'll break her name into 4 parts.

Part 1: 'O' This is pronounced like the letter 'o' or the word 'oh'. It's the part no one seems to have trouble with. Good job everyone!

Part 2: 'fel' This part gives lots of people trouble. It's pronounced 'fell'. Lots of people are saying 'feel'.

Review: So far we have Oh-fell. Please say this a few times until you are comfortable and then move on to part 3.

Part 3: 'i' This is pronounced like the letter 'e'.

Part 4: 'a' This is pronounced like the sound 'uh'.

Parts 3 and 4 go together. The common mistake is to see the i-a and say 'yuh'. This is where "white ear" can give people the most trouble. Please make sure to say 'ee-uh'. It's kind of like that part in the Old McDonald song -- e i e i oh, but it's e uh and you don't have to repeat it. I said you don't have to repeat it... stop it!

Review: For those of you hooked on phonics it's Oh-fell-ee-uh. The accent is on the 'fell' part. Please practice until you're comfortable.

Ok, Ofelia has made a few requests of all the people that know and love (or even just like) her.

Request 1: Please don't call her "Ofee" just because her sister's name is Sofi.

Request 2: Please don't call her "Oaf". This life is hard enough without a nickname like that.

Request 3: If after practicing you truly cannot say her name, please just call her Bleu (pronounced "Blue").

2 Month Stats

In between naps about a week ago we took Ofelia to the doctor for her 2 month check up. Time is flying!

Here are her stats:

Height: 21.87 inches 30th percentile
Weight: 10 lbs. 6.5 oz. 25th percentile
Head: 15.25 inches 50th percentile (yes we have big headed children)

Ofelia gained 3 pounds and grew 2.5 inches in the last 6 weeks! I guess that's why she's been sleeping so much?

For those of you wondering... at the same age Sofi was actually an inch taller and a pound heavier. Her head was exactly the same!

By the way, did you notice Ofelia's shoes? Yes, those are high top Puma Romas. Kid's got mad style.

Dat's Gangsta!

Uncle Meat and Aunt Josie got Sofi a little "pacifier bling" this year for Christmas. They also got her a hat and some new gloves (thanks guys!). The funny thing is when you put the hat and pacifier together...

You get gangsta Sofi! I think I caught her right before she finished throwing up her sign. It looks like it was some sort of westside thing.
Stay outta my way sucka!

All she has to do now is jump in a few of her buddies.

xmas morning

On xmas eve Sofi got a bear skin rug (see below) from her Aunt Sue. It's definitely a favorite and serves as Sofi's new mi-mi (me me) mat. That's where she takes her nap. She woke up xmas morning and wanted to sit with her new oso (bear).



Sofi was pretty quick to remember how the present opening thing works.

Ofelia woke up long enough to see what was going on.

She takes her new dolly friends for a spin on her new horse.

Ofelia still didn't get what was going on, but thought it would be a good time to fight the power.

The aftermath took at least a week to sort through and organize. We had a great Christmas morning. Thanks everybody!

xmas eve

We started xmas eve at Casa de Lopez (future godparents) for some of the best food I've had in a while. There was freshly made posole, tamales, enchilada caserole... I was way too busy eating to take pictures. Then we headed over to Mike's cousin's place. Here are some pics from that event.

Ok, this is actually before either of the events. Sofi totally gets the camera thing. She even asks us to take her picture now.
She's ready to impress.

Grandma Lou Lou gets some Ofelia time.

Sofi enjoys some conversation with Papa and Great G-ma Yo Yo (Josephine).

Sofi hung out with Grandma Yo Yo most of the night.

Tio Chris gets in some face time with Ofelia.

The night wrapped up with a White Elephant gift exchange. Sofi became the designated gift opener and Ofelia slept.

Big Sister

We all know how fashion conscious Sofi is. She picks out her socks, shoes, the fishy shirt (now known as the "agua" shirt) if it's clean. Well, Sofi recently discovered the drawer full of Baby's clothes. Oh boy! She chose Ofelia's clothes the other morning and was so proud! Doesn't Ofelia look excited too?

Here Sofi laughs after telling Ofelia that stripes and polka dots don't go. Doesn't Ofelia look like she's been tricked?

Outside In

This is to show all my peeps out in Cali how cold it got a few weeks ago here in Denver. Yes Dad, that's ice on the inside of our doorstep. And I think those are Sofi's finger prints on the bottom right.
