Lots of Firsts

I suck at keeping baby books - sorry girls - but hopefully the blog will serve as approximate times for certain mile stones.

No, this isn't the first wagon ride, just the first time Ofelia managed to fall asleep in the wagon.
I'm awake.
No I'm not.

July 18th: Second tooth pops through. I know this is supposed to be about firsts... 3 weeks ago (give or take a week or two) the first tooth popped in.
Yes, this ones blury. You try to get an 8 month old to show you her teeth.

June 15th: First word! Yup, pretty soon we'll have two girls who won't shut up. Oh, I mean we'll have two girls who can add conversation to any moment of the day or night whether it's needed or not or already been said 50 times before in a whiney voice. Just kidding. I love my kids and their whiney voices too.
Ofelia's first word was "Papa". "Mama" came a week later. I know I sound a little dorky trying to get Ofelia to say 'papa', but I was so excited and didn't want Mike to miss out.

Caught the clapping on video today (7/23). She started yesterday.

Rolling with my Homies

Sofi has been "riding" the bikes at REI for some time now. I think she likes the bike dept. more than the playground now. Last weekend we caved and bought not one, but two new bikes! Yes, we're a little ahead of one of our kids, but check out the handle that makes the bike stroller like.
And look at how proud Papa is!
Cuz now they can have demolition derby games! Look how excited Papa is! Oh, and the girls.
"I'm glad Papa didn't tie me to my bike with a bungee cord. That must suck."

Check out how Ofelia knows to hang on.

Sofi is starting to get the hang of the peddles.

Where's Ofelia?

Ok where's Waldo fans... this one's for you. Don't scroll down until you find her.

Give up? Or are you cheating?

Date Night

No, Mike and I did not have date night. He took one of his other women... Ofelia. They went to a ball game, shared a pretzel, and walked around the stadium a bit. Sofi was asleep and I wasn't sure what to do with myself. I chose sleep too. In the end, I guess Ofelia did too. This is how she came home.

Grandma Yo Yo's House

A couple weekends ago we headed to Pueblo to visit Grandma Yo Yo. The girls had a blast. I thought I took a lot more pics, but apparently not. Sofi ran through sprinklers for the first time, learned how to crawl through a doggie door, fed Grandma peaches and followed her around like she was her shadow. Ofelia just hung out.

Here's Ofelia talking to Grandma.

I heard giggling and talking coming from the family room and there was Sofi sharing popcorn with grandma yo yo.
Sofi showing off her toes and grandma showing off a piece of popcorn.
Ofelia made herself right at home when bedtime came.
Now instead of "Back to the room" we hear "Back to grandma yo yo's!"

Papa's Days

Last month Papa had 2 special days... Father's Day and his 40th Birthday! The girls and I got together over snack one day to discuss gift ideas. As you can see they took it very seriously.
"How about a picture for Papa's office? I'll hold Ofelia!" Guess who's idea that was.
We went with a picture and a new, customized Rage Against the Machine shirt. We're trying to teach Sofi to say "cheese" when it's picture time (note the yelling below). This turns into everybody yelling random words. The routine is now, "Say queso! Frijoles! Dylan!" Yes, Dylan made it into the line up. Sofi threw that one in one day and we just kept using it.
Here's Papa sporting the new shirt with Ofelia.
Ofelia was getting a little air time. Big sister Sofi joins the fun.
I know you guys aren't really reading the blog to watch Mike and I get old, so I thought I'd throw in some cute bath photo's to keep you interested.

Ok, back to the old guy. This is a shot of Mike on his birthday (notice the shirt?) posing with some chick we don't know.
We went with Matt (Sofi took this pic!) and Rosie to Kona to get some cheap but good happy hour food in honor of the 40 year old.
Rosie holding a sleeping Ofelia.
Hey look a pic of me and Sofi! Thanks Matt!
