You killed it!

Last night we carved a pumpkin with Sofi for the first time. This is a pic of Mike and Sofi practicing their war cries.

Sofi exploring the inside of the pumkin. Carving actually kept her attention for a while!

Mama had to take over when she learned that Papa has carved very few pumpkins in his life. He claims to have kicked in more than he ever carved. A soccer skill he says that Sofi will pick up in good time.

Proud of the finished product.

Dance Break!

So there we were trick-or-treating along 32nd street. Sofi was pushing her stroller along when she heard music coming from one of the patios. She immediately let go (yes, she really was pushing her own stroller) and started dancing. She drew lots of comments from the drinkers and other passers by. Mike even had time to run over and encourage more dancing while I fumbled for the camera. I wish I knew how to take Sofi's (aka Lucy from the Peanuts Gang--thanks Nikki!) image and put it into one of the Charlies Brown cartoon dance scenes! Uncle Meat? Little help with that please?

Is that a pumpkin in your belly?

Here's the rare preggo shot of me these days. Only 11 more days til baby #2. Check out the size of that pumkin!

Just kidding Mom! I know you want to see the belly shot. Here you go.

Pumpkin Patch

Due to an unusual 2 hour second nap we weren't able to take Sofi to the "real" pumpkin patch with all her buddies. Fortunately, the temple a few miles away had the city version we could head to after naptime. Sofi didn't quite get what was going on, but I think she had a good time.

Look! A rare picture without her chupon! And reunited with her chupon.

Mike trying to get her to hold a pumkin. Sofi wasn't sure why that would be a good idea.

Snow Jacket for Sofi?

Sofi and I went shopping for her first winter jacket this week. We found one at REI that she seemed pretty excited about. It was funny to see her look at herself in the mirror trying on different jackets. Hopefully it's a sign that shopping trips will be fun later. The next day we were about to meet Papa for coffee and Sofi grabbed her purple rain jacket. Then she threw her new jacket at George and looked at me like 'you gonna put that on him or what?' Usually when we dress George up he stays at home, but not on this particular day. She threw him in her stroller and would get really mad when I tried to move him out of the way. Well, you can see who won that battle. There I was walking my two little monkies down 16th Street heading to Starbucks. The looks we got were pretty funny.

Party Favors

Why aren't the party favors gone?!

Dress Up

Lately Sofi has been developing her sense of style. Notice how most of the blog pics these days feature Sofi in her favorite fishy shirt. She is also very conscious of shoes and socks... some mornings we have to try on different socks to see which ones she wears that day. Yes, I'm serious. She'll pull her socks off and point to another pair for me to put on her. She has me put different shoes on her also, sometimes a different shoe for each foot to see which one she prefers. George is even lucky enough to get in on the action sometimes.

2nd Annual Sausage and Taco Party

The fast approaching arrival of Little Unstoppable 'Dos' prompted us to hold another Sausage and Taco party. Get it? You know, cuz we don't know what we're having yet? So anyways, Sofi got to practice her hostess skills again and Mama and Papa got the chance to perfect their BBQing skills. Things seemed to go pretty well. We only lost one member of the baby bunch due to unhappiness, but it seemed to be a pretty fun evening. I still don't know how to do a slide show, but putting the pics like this will give me the chance to narrate.

Here we have Sofi, Mia and Dylan acting very serious.

This is Sofi trying to entertain Steve and Mia with a truck.
Dylan and Sofi trying to figure out how to get out of the loft and into the rain.
Jack Jack, Ricky, and Mia attempting to snack.
Sofi with soon to be godmother Rosemary.
Thanks to the Rifkins we had really good tequila for a toast to me and the newbie.
I love this picture of Ricky, or "Slick Rick the Ruuuler" as Coach Mike likes to call him.
A little adult fun -- I think this is one of the few pictures I have without kids!
This is why there are no kids in that last picture. Tio Tony was kind enough to entertain the remaining two while Mike and I got to catch up with some of our friends. Thanks Tony!
The aftermath was a little overwhelming. We managed to clean most of the chaos up after everyone left. The next morning Sofi pitched in a little to clean up the area where some of her friends ate. Also a great example of why Sofi doesn't have too many toys. I actually had to take the brush and dustpan away from her!?
We had a great time with everyone. Thanks for stopping by to celebrate our growing family. I'm sorry to say that there probably won't be a Sausage and Taco Party next year--not to celebrate another one anyway.

They're Magically Delicious!

So there we were at the counter enjoying a little breakfast... Papa with his coffee and banana and Mama and Sofi with bowls of Lucky Charms. I know, who feeds their one year old Lucky Charms? We've been teaching Sofi that when she's done with her food she should push it forward so it's out of the way. She used to throw it on the floor, so we've come quite a ways. Apparently, Sofi is not a big fan of Lucky Charms and she tried to get her bowl which is suction cupped to the counter out of her way pretty early on. I was across the counter when I noticed this and was mid sentence asking Mike to help her when "pop" the bowl came up and the cereal went flying. It landed perfectly on Sofi's 18 1/2 inch head! We couldn't stop laughing! Lucky for all you readers out there Mike distracted Sofi long enough for me to grab the camera. Please note that in the first pic Sofi is pointing to Mike cuz it was his fault.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...

Yes, I've watched The Sound of Music a few too many times, but lately Sofi has started to show us what a few of her favorite things are. Luckily, I've managed to capture them on film. This is Sofi's new favorite way to look at things.

And this is Sofi's new snack of choice.

When Sofi is held above her drawer full of tops she always opts for the fishy shirt. She will even move the other shirts around to see if it's in there.

Sofi's new favorite accessory is her little purple backpack that she packs her stuffed animals in when we go out. I used to put snacks and drinks in it when I went snowboarding... ahh those were the days.

The bottom shelf where we keep Sofi's toys is her favorite place to sit and read. Here you'll see she's cleared it off and is about to select one of her books that she now looks at instead of just chews on.
